Booking: Advanced reservations are strongly recommended, especially during the peak season, and can be made through the National Recreation Reservation Service.

Check-in/out: Specific check-in and check-out times should be adhered to, and are often around 1 PM for check-in and 11 AM for check-out.


Hiking/Biking: The Schoodic Peninsula offers miles of hiking and biking trails with varying difficulty levels, including the scenic Schoodic Loop Road.

Ocean Exploration: The rugged coastline is ideal for photography, bird watching, and tidepool exploration.

Stargazing: Schoodic Woods is known for its dark skies, making it a haven for stargazing.

Weather: Be prepared for variable weather – it can change quickly, and fog is common.

Transportation: The Island Explorer shuttle bus service operates seasonally in the park and is free of charge. It offers a great way to explore the Schoodic Peninsula without using a personal vehicle.

Leave No Trace: Visitors are expected to follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the park's natural beauty and environment.


The campground is designed to be accessible to people with disabilities, with specific campsites and facilities catering to the needs of these visitors.


Pets: Pets are allowed but must be restrained and not left unattended. Always clean up after your pets and keep them away from public buildings and busy areas.

Quiet Hours: Quiet hours are typically enforced between 10 PM and 6 AM to ensure a peaceful environment for all campers.

Fires: Fires are only allowed in designated fire rings, and firewood should be bought locally to avoid the spread of invasive pests.

Permits: Depending on your activity, such as group events or commercial tours, a permit may be required.
