Basic Information

Devils Garden Campground is a highly sought-after campground located within Arches National Park in southeastern Utah, known for its stunning high-desert landscapes and close proximity to some of the park's most famous arches and trails. The campground is generally open year-round, but with limited services between November and February.

Campsites and Reservations

The campground consists of 51 campsites which can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs (up to 30 feet in length on some sites). The sites are well-defined and set among natural vegetation to preserve the wilderness experience.

  • Reservations are strongly recommended, as the campground is extremely popular, especially during the peak season (March through October).
  • Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through Recreation.gov.
  • A few sites remain available on a first-come, first-served basis but fill up quickly.

Amenities and Facilities

  • Picnic Tables: Each campsite has a picnic table.
  • Fire Pits/Grills: Fire pits or grills are provided for cooking.
  • Drinking Water: Available year-round.
  • Flush Toilets: Available in the campground, but there are no shower facilities.
  • Amphitheater: Ranger-led programs are often held here during peak season.

Activities and Access

  • Hiking: Trails to various arches and landmarks, including the famous Landscape Arch, start from or near the campground.
  • Stargazing: The park's dark skies make for excellent stargazing opportunities.
  • Photography: Capture stunning formations, especially during sunrise and sunset.
  • Wildlife Viewing: The area is home to a variety of desert wildlife species.

Rules and Regulations

  • Quiet Hours: Typically enforced to ensure a peaceful environment for all campers.
  • Pets: Dogs are allowed in the campground but must be leashed at all times and are not allowed on most trails.
  • Campfires: Restrictions on campfires may be in place, particularly during dry periods with high fire danger. Use established fire pits or grills, and never leave fires unattended.
  • Leave No Trace: Campers are asked to follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize impact on the natural environment.
  • Food Storage: Proper food storage is necessary to deter wildlife from entering the camping area.

Seasonal Considerations

  • Weather: Conditions can vary widely with hot summers and cold winters. Be prepared for sudden changes in weather, and always bring adequate gear.
  • Road Conditions: Roads to the campground are paved, but during winter months, snow and ice can affect access.
  • Services: Some services and facilities may be less available or closed during the off-peak season.

The campground offers a few accessible sites designed to accommodate visitors with disabilities, featuring accessible picnic tables and restrooms nearby. However, the rugged terrain of the park may limit access to some areas.
